setting account type will help you to sum up to the correct total at the parent level, and this is what account type is mainly used for.
why do you want some account to be INC?
- is it purely because they are income account in the income statement?
- it needs to be negative in the role up to the parent node?
your focus should be get the sum at parent node to the value you want, then adjust INC or EXP, then you worry about credit positive or negative.
every company reporting differently, so some income account in the business doesn't means you have to have those acctype as INC.
